Welcome!
Welcome to Hyper's Miscellany!
I'm Hyperworm, and this site gets its name because it's an area for me to post all sorts of miscellaneous information about myself, my interests and the games I play, and use as a platform for all sorts of miscellaneous experiments in PHP I might do - like the hiscore system I've built, which you can register for if you want to add some scores of your own.
I'm a regular at PALGN, a gaming site and forum for PAL (that covers the UK, Australia, and Europe among other places) gaming news and discussion.
If you want to contact me, please do so via PM on PALGN, or email me (I have a gmail account, username Hyperworm).
Future developments on Hyper's Miscellany
I'm a perfectionist, and so it takes me a long time to become satisfied with the work I do. I still have a lot of development left to do on Hyper's Miscellany in that respect, too. A few of the things I hope to do to improve it in the near future are:
- Add a "Personal profile" section to the Customise page. The profile will be viewable by other users, and is intended as a space for you to give some information about yourself, the games you play, and your contact information, so you can talk with other people who have posted content like hiscores.
- Add a "hiscore filter" section to the Customise page. One of the things I often notice about hiscore sites and systems is that they get filled with people who are excessively leet at the games you play, forcing your hiscores way off the top ten. This is fine, but if you don't want "professional" competition and just want somewhere for you to compare your hiscores with a friend's, you may not want to see all those extra scores, and you don't want them to dominate the section view list. Therefore I'd like to give you the choice of displaying all hiscores or just those that came from specific users.
- Start adding content to the "Japanese" section. I've filled it with introductions to the language and the like before, but this time I'll probably be aiming it at a higher level. Expect to see miscellaneous questions, clarification and information on aspects of Japanese that often prove difficult for, or trip up, learners of the language.
About Internet Explorer
Right now this site doesn't support Internet Explorer, just as Internet Explorer doesn't support :hover on anything but links and seems to trip over CSS width statements.
I will be fixing the menu bar for IE in due course. If you don't want to wait, consider changing to a better browser.
